Critically Reflective Leadership
The most crucial skill that educators can teach an adult learner is critical self-reflection, which is defined as "a critique of an assumption upon which the learner has characterized an issue. Practitioners might look beyond their training and past experiences by using critical reflection to examine, at least as a mental exercise, options that have been outside their experience. This
learned tool will, presumably, lead to professional advancement by mastering this skill set.
Beyond the capacity to master critical reflection in order to assist someone become a successful leader, it's also vital to look at the many qualities that strong leaders possess. Scholars have been attempting to identify the characteristics of good leadership since the mid-twentieth century, using a variety of models.
The objective of this article is to provide a technique that emerging leaders can utilize when deciding whether leadership styles, behaviors, or actions are most suited in a given situation. The authors examine a variety of leadership models that have been studied by academics over the last six decades; however, not all of these models are appropriate for all leaders in all situations. The authors advise that rising leaders employ reflection-in-action to help them become more effective leaders when confronted with difficult situations. The rising leader can be helped to choose between numerous models or methods by considering a descriptive, yet concise informal checklist. The practical application of this information is to assist those mentoring emerging leaders, as well as emerging leaders themselves, in developing reflective practices and insightful dispositions that are required to navigate the complex situations that arise in today's daily
interactive environments.
