Education and Gender-based Differences in Employee Motivation

The article begins by stating the purpose of the research which is to show the dependencies between gender-based motivation factors and educational motivation factors. The information provided within the article was gained by conducting surveys which are still conducted today. The main goal as managers is to motivate and encourage employees within the company to improve work performance. Management of employees begins when selecting new employees and continues throughout their time within the company.

The relationship between managers and employees is very important from the beginning. Managers must remain professional, positive, and respectful from the beginning of the process and throughout the relationship. One very important factor that managers must keep in mind is that all employees have specific needs and requirements. One employee may absorb information and tasks one way while another employee needs extra time to understand or needs more hands- on training. Employee motivation is based on several factors including age, gender, and education.
There have also been many studies that show men and women are motivated by different factors. Women are more influenced by supporting family needs, whereas men are influenced by their own priorities. Studies offer support that men are more motivated if the rewards include more income, freedom, challenges, and promotions. Education level is another factor that plays a role in gender-based practices. Depending on education level, both men and women may put in more effort where others may feel like do not have to go the extra mile.

In closing, the article discusses the importance of recognizing the motivation put in by all employees. Charts and tables offer information on the studies discussed and break down the motivation factors in the workplace between men and women. It reminds the reader that as a management, gender equality can make or break a company.
