Knowing how perceived social loafing manifests itself in groups is very beneficial for group
members anticipating and managing social loafing-related tensions. Once the timing of perceived
enables the group to maintain a positive emotional environment, revitalize group energy,
promote cohesiveness, and improve group performance, some preventative measures may help
the group to maintain a positive emotional environment, revitalize group energy, promote
cohesiveness, and enhance group performance.

We look into the effects of various types of conflict on group/team perceptions of social loafing.
Contribution conflict and negative emotions were found to have direct and positive effects on
perceived social loafing in a sample of 164 people, whereas task conflict, logistical conflict, and
relationship conflict had no direct beneficial effects on reported social loafing. When the effects
of logistic conflict, contribution conflict, relationship conflict, and negative emotions were
adjusted for, task conflict was found to have a marginally significant direct dampening effect on
perceived social loafing.

This study not only investigates the trends in perceived social loafing, disputes, and emotions in
groups, but it also adds to our understanding by finding reasons. That is, we want to learn more
about how conflicts and negative emotions affect how people perceive social loafing in a group
situation.

The current study aims to test a simple model that explains how different types of conflict,
together with negative emotions, trigger group members' perception of social loafing by splitting
conflict into four subcategories (task conflict, relational conflict, logistic conflict, and
contribution conflict).
